The last couple of months have been kind of rough on me. I’ve been hospitalized 3 times during that period. One was for a particular bad allergic reaction to an antibiotic (of course, I asked my sister to bring me my wolf plushie), and just two days later, I had to go to another hospital to get a lump on my groin checked, and they made a small cut under localized anesthesia to get a sample for tests.
However, they didn’t get enough of a sample, so a month or so later I had to go in again to excise the entire lump. This time, it was under general anesthesia, which was actually a pretty cool feeling. With each breath I took, the buzzing in my ears grew louder, and so too did my vision grow foggier. The next thing I knew, I was in a cubby outside the operating theater, sans the lump that used to be at my groin.
A couple of weeks later, or yesterday, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which is a type of blood cancer. The version I got, NLPHL, is slow acting and doesn’t pose a current threat, but I have to undergo chemotherapy starting next week, lasting for about four months. Honestly, I’m quite scared due to the uncertainties of how my body will react to the drugs. And I will be hospitalized again, at least for the first cycle of chemotherapy.
This doesn’t mean I’ll stop translating, though. But with all the side effects and trips to the hospital, do expect releases to be quite a bit slower.
